Writing Assignment #1

1. Describe the design process; it’s categories and how it is used as you outline step 1, 2 and 3?
The design process is a method of solving problem. There are six steps that are followed when going through the design process: identify the problem, generate ideas, refine and analyze, create the prototype, design, and implement. When outlining steps 1, 2 and 3, first you need to ask yourself what the problem is. The next step, is to then brainstorm your ideas. Thirdly, you make a mock-up, or drawing, of your design.
2. Define Three-dimensional form and find a new example using the research links.
Three-dimensional form is a design of real existence, a physical object and a form in space. It must have length, breadth and depth.
3. Define Space and find a new example using the research links.
Space is an area of openness that is needed for making materials into forms or objects.
4. Define Positive and negative space in3-D form, find a new example using the research links.
Negative space is empty space that can contain or hold a form. Positive space is the form contained in the negative space.

5.Define Direction and find a new example using the research links.
Direction measures the angle of an element to another element in a composition.
6. Define Scale and find a new example using the research links.
Scale is the size of the form compared to the space it is in, another form, or a human being.
7. Define Point of view and frame of reference, and find a new example using the research links.
Point of View is how the viewer perceives and interacts through a form in space. This is based on how the viewer is positioned in relation to the form.
